Don’t have any spare time left, to keep this site updated. I hope someone enjoyed this somewhat and maybe I’ll continue this in the near future. Everything that is up now, will remain uploaded, for now.
‘Till next time
yours truly!
“Well it’s been a long time, long time now.” A line that’s been stuck in everyone’s head for the last few month’s. The men that plead guilty for this honorable deed are Beirut. Everyone with a little bit of musical interest probably knows this song by heart already, but the reason I’m letting them stay at the hotel, is their ability to amaze people, by doing what they are good at, performing.

Introducing the newest feat in your trusty hotel; Hotel84′s monthly compilations.
The first collection is called Dirty December. I’m trying this approach also because people sometimes dislike watching video’s to discover new music. Furthermore there’s also the often unwanted association you get when you watch music video’s. I will always try to keep the compilation interesting by adding old and obscure music but also newer and well known songs to it. Just a mix of songs that I’m listening to and I think are worth sharing.
Enjoy, (in the future I might be adding some artwork to it, so you can print a cover with the actual song titles on it.)
(All uploads will be on rapidshare, because for us Belgians that’s the most reliable one atm.)

Founded in the early 60′s and recently back from the grave, The Remains. They recorded a whole bunch of rock ‘n roll albums with some very tight songs on it. Check it out on their very straightforward site.
To get an idea what they sound like; it’s the Beatles shaking hands with the Stones. (I just realized how absurd that phrase sounds.)

Or am I?
The Dirtbombs, one of the many great Detroit garage revelations. They have the same dirty groove, if not the dirtiest among them. I have listened to this song very often, so I might sound a little biased but this is the kind of song you’ve got to hear a couple of times until you get the hang of it.
I love their dry sense of humor and distorted sound layers, making the guitars sound like a bulldog with a terrible cough. They also have an unusual line-up in the band: A singer, a guitarist, 2 bassists and 2 drummers. I bet seeing them live is quite the party!
The guy dancing to the song is not your average joe. His goal is to dance in different cities for some kind of veggie cause.
The Dirtbombs – I’m through with white girls
It’s been a while since I’ve heard this one, just came across it today and got swooped away again by the magical Elliot Smith. This somehow always reminds me of a cheesy Christmas high school movie. I like it though.
Let yourself drown in melancholy and melody here’s;
Miss Misery – Elliot Smith
A gritty dirty young blues genius from Australia. It’s not easy to find some decent footage on this guy, youtube doesn’t have any exceptionally great tunes . But I’ve picked out one of the finest they had, just to give you guys some idea how he sounds like. Take in mind that this is nothing but a fragment from what he is on stage. If you ever have the chance to see this wonderful person on stage, don’t doubt the fact that you’ll have one motherfucker of an evening.
The sounds not great, but you’ll get the idea: Ash Grunwald – 1976 Coaster Van

Dave Gahan‘s single “Kingdom” is today’s visitor in my humble hotel and it even gets to stay in the royal suite. I love how this man is able to sound like he’s playing some kind of goth-rock, while it’s actually 100% electronics you are hearing. Mr. Depeche Mode never ceases to amaze.
Yes, my friends, the rockabilly scene is very much alive, everybody is aware of this and so is bluesmachine John Spencer. His new band Heavy Trash influenced by country, blues, rockabilly and traditionals, is the stunning result. My favorite song on their new album is called “way out”, sadly enough there isn’t any footage on youtube, but fear not my friends have I ever let you down in the past? ‘Tis already on the net, especially for you lads;
The video for “Dark haired rider“;
And the link to site, you can listen to the songs here too, if you are willing to spare your bandwidth…
Heavy trash
After an evening of heavy drinking comes that terrible morning after again. Well this is what I listen too, to ease the sickness a bit;
Ryan Adams – Hotel Chelsea nights
After the song, there seems to be a little excerpt of Ryan goofing around in the studio. Some weird footage during the song too, anyway the sign says music discovery…
